[title] => The C6 Corvette was a Fantastic Car

::fulltext::
The Corvette has always had a difficult time competing with its sophisticated European rivals, but with the C7, many people have conceded that the Corvette has finally been crowned king of the hill. To me, however, the C7 is a wannabe little brother of the trailblazer C6 Corvette.
The final C6 Corvette rolled off the assembly line in 2013 after an eight year production run. In that time, the Corvette was resurrected from a multi-decade rut. No ‘Vette was especially pretty or powerful since the C2 Stingrays nearly a half a century before. They were all lazy plastic coupes for doctors with more money than common sense. But the C6 was the first real contender to do well in the boxing ring of the world’s sports car competition.
It wasn’t over-designed and gimmicky like the current C7, but it had some striking curves that had been missing from its predecessors. It had a vastly improved (though still not perfect) interior design. The engine gained an incredible amount of grunt. On the world racing stage, the C6.R dominated the competition, including class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans four times. The C6 doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Keep an eye out for cheap C6 Z06s in a few years. They’ll surely be a bargain for such a successful and well-rounded, true American sports car.

It’s definitely prettier than the C7
