Aston Martin trades the open road for endless waves, Bond foils bad guys

Aston Martin

Let's see how many James Bond references I can make

When he isn’t driving Aston Martins on the road, Mr. Bond, James Bond can usually be found travelling via the local waterways. Too bad Aston doesn’t make an elegantly styled water vessel. Or does it? Aston Martin designed a powerboat named the AM37 along with Quintessence Yachts, revealing it ahead of Milan Design Week.

Aston says the AM37 is “fusing the maritime and automotive worlds with the universal characteristics of style and elegance.” I can see the AM37 powerboat being featured in the next sans Daniel Craig James Bond movie, probably in a gunfight on Lake Como with James peppering bad guys with bullets while putting the moves on a pretty lady. They should have called it the AM007.

“It is true that a beautiful, simple shape is critical to a product’s success but it must also have drama, which is provided by surface language, proportions, and through the choice of exciting materials. The most important attribute for Aston Martin is the language of design and we have transferred this language into AM37. The new powerboat represents the ideal combination of luxurious and technical materials, generating a powerful yet understated finished product,” Marek Reichman, Aston Martin chief creative officer, said.
