1991 Alfa Romeo SZ GT
Italian design house Zagato is the undoubtedly responsible for the most outrageously beautiful cars ever. Its hands have graced Aston Martins, BMWs, and Ferraris. Cars that were already valuable before have become priceless because of the inherent beauty from Zagato.
But the SZ GT by Alfa Romeo is distinguished among its Zagato brethren. Instead of double bubble roofs and sloping hoods with short decks, the SZ GT was rigid and defined. It looks like a rectangular box on wheels with a small, hemispherical cabin plopped on top. Every design element is either a circle or square, clashing as much as a paisley and argyle. Is was a car that was designed for a single moment in time, and became timeless because of that.
If you buy this car, people will point and laugh. They will make fun of your ugly box car. It won't matter if they like cars or not, they will hate it. But rejoice, because you may be in possession of the Zagato's best work, its ugly Mona Lisa.
Pros
- Only the DeLorean is more 80s
- So many geometric shapes
- Could be Zagato's best work
Not-so Pros
- Laser discs and 8-tracks used to be cool, too
- Peak 80s in 1991
